Bali is a beautiful and magical island only 160 kilometers north to south and 280 kilometers east to west. It maintains a tropical climate growing rice, sugar cane, coffee and a variety of fruits and vegetables. The beautiful coasts offer breathtaking tourist spots and boast active volcanoes, sure to provide an unforgettable vacation. Many couples consider Bali for their honeymoon, a romantic getaway or even to enjoy the sports and activities Bali has to offer.
There are a little less than 4 million Balinese people on the island and represent the most amount of practicing Hindus in the country. Unlike most of Indonesia that practices the Muslim faith, Balinese Hinduism and Islam are the two common religious practices of the island. They speak mostly Balinese and Indonesian and most residents are bilingual in both. The Balinese are known for being incredibly superstitious and praying to multiple gods. Dancing is a common activity and form of worship on the island as well.
Activities never run short on Bali. Surfing is a great activity when visiting the island of Bali, with its breath taking beaches and wonderful waves. Kuta beach and Nusua Dua provide great surfing spots, as does the much hidden Uluwatu, requiring a 4 kilometer hike before being able to hit the waves. Hiking is also a common thing to do on the island as the terrain is very diverse, with mountains, beaches and fields. West Bali National Park is a great place to hike, bike or walk. Gungung Batur is also a great option, as it is the highest mountain peak available on the island. Tourists are known to watch the sun rise and set at the highest point. With numerous resorts available, many visitors enjoy golfing, massages and high end accommodations, including huts over the water. Imagine relaxing in a hammock, over a beach, on a small beautiful island. Bali is sure to make everyone back at home jealous.
